Newspaper obituary for Mya Durso (née Jeannopoulos) — adopted daughter of John Lazare and Ines Valda — published in the Staten Island Advance, March 30, 2002. She predeceased both her parents (John Lazare died Jan 31, 2004; Ines Valda Apr 7, 2004) by less than two years, at age 51.
An earlier draft of this site treated Mya as the same person as the 1951 SS Constitution arrival manifest’s infant “Eftichia C.” That was wrong — Eftichia is Mya’s sister Claudine (born ~1950 in Tunis). Mya was adopted into the family separately, around age seven — a clarification her sister Aline made directly in May 2026.
