Peter Econom — Didi — was the only son of Rhea (“Lula”) and Leonidas Econom, and he died at approximately five years old. The exact date and circumstances are not yet documented in the family record; the working estimate is ~1962, derived from the family’s 1964 California move and the obituary’s framing of Peter as a predeceased son.
His existence and predeceased-son status are confirmed by Rhea’s 2012 published obituary, which named “her predeceased son, Peter, and daughter, Jo Ann.” Both his name and his childhood nickname Didi were shared in May 2026 by his cousin Aline Pepe; his age at death was clarified in May 2026 by Alex.
He is almost certainly the “toddler grandson” Eftyhia grieved, in Aline’s 2026 portrait of her grandmother. Eftyhia was alive until December 1968; a grandson lost as a small child in the early 1960s fits the timing exactly — and only Peter, of all of Eftyhia’s grandchildren, died as a young child.
Per Aline (May 2026), he was originally buried at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Queens — alongside his maternal grandparents Lazaros and Eftyhia and his uncle Takis. Decades later, after his sister Jo Ann’s 1995 death, he may have been moved to California to be re-interred closer to the Econom family in Northridge — the family bringing their lost child west to be with them.
